The S Model takes its first trip to a Brisbane university

By Alex Hargreaves

On the 21st of March, the Tesla S Model made its first appearance on a university campus.  That university was GRIFFITH.  If you were lucky enough to be at Nathan that day or if made an effort to be there for the event, you would have had the privilege of gracing your eyes over the shiny, black, energy efficient automobile that Tesla is famous for.  You can have your own Tesla S Model for a mere drive away price of $131743.  If that doesn’t motivate you to aim for a high paying graduate job, I don’t know what will.

Tesla

Although it may have been tempting to ask Tesla a million questions about the S model and begin scheming a master plan of how you will one day obtain one (perhaps you could just live in your car and not worry about buying a first home?) marketing their car is not the reason why they appeared on campus.

Tesla is soon to open a brand new show room in Brisbane.  Tesla already have stores in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide, so it is an exciting development to have them moving to our home turf.  The store is anticipated to open in the second half of 2017 and will be located at 1058 and 1062 Ann St, Fortitude Valley.  Now, Brisbanites will have the opportunity to visit Tesla whenever they feel like dreaming. However, there are some people living among us that really can afford to buy their own Tesla car. Those people will need assistance with their purchase.  Obviously, Tesla will need to hire a big team of new staff to assist with the process.

This is a fantastic opportunity for Griffith University students.  If you are interested in working for a luxury automobile company and/or are passionate about sustainable energy, this is your chance to put your best foot forward.  Tesla has advised that there will be many entry level sales roles available that could later progress into degree related, graduate positions for the right candidates.

Sarah, Graduate Recruiter at Tesla, advises that

“Tesla is looking for employees who are genuinely passionate about our mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. We are looking for employees who have a ‘get it done’ attitude, aren’t scared of solving hard problems themselves, understand what it means to give a first class customer experience and are driven to achieve their goals.”

If this sounds like you, keep a vigilant eye on the Tesla Careers page. Have your resume and cover letter polished to perfection and be ready to apply.  However, be warned that working as a high end car sales person is no walk in the park.  Sarah can testify to this.

“Working for Tesla is an adventure —no two days are the same and the environment is very fast-paced so it keeps you on your toes and constantly challenged. You learn something every day and are surrounded by a team of passionate individuals who truly believe in what we are trying to achieve” she says.

The Tesla team enjoyed their time at Griffith and reported that they had inspiring conversations with the many proactive students who took time out to ask questions about their brand and upcoming career vacancies.  Watch this space, new positions will be advertised on Careerboard as soon as they become available.  If you didn’t catch Tesla’s visit to Griffith this time, they have a parking spot reserved in 2018.
