Shape your Career – HDR Candidates

Careers and Employment Team are hosting a full 1 Day Shape your Career Event! Note: you will not be able to register or view the event unless you are a current Higher Degree Research student at Griffith.

Are you unsure of your future career? Are you feeling stuck and need career direction? Do you want to be part of a HDR community who feel more confident about the next steps in their career and share the confidence with their peers in 2024?

The Griffith Careers and Employment team are hosting a 1 day Shape Your HDR Career event!

You will learn to apply a design thinking methodology and strengths-based approach to the wicked problem of planning your career. Careers and Employment aim to help you develop exciting but realistic career prospects in a creative and proactive way. Key principals in the program are based on the work of Bill Burnett and Dave Evans Design Your Life program out of Stanford University.

The day will include the following two sessions:

9.30am – 12.00pm

The Wicked Problem of Career Decision Making Beyond Your HDR Study

In the morning we explore the idea (problem) of planning your career, navigate through the design thinking framework and ideating solutions using techniques to help you explore many career possibilities with a curious mindset.

12.30pm – 3.00pm

How Might I? Strategies to Achieve Your Career Goals

In the afternoon we will be reaching the end of the career planning journey and navigating through the last two sections of the design thinking framework to help you make a better decision about your future career.
