Meet Jacob.  Jacob is our Griffith Google Student Ambassador for 2016 at the Gold Coast Campus.  As a Student Ambassador, he has come to learn about what it’s like to be an employee at Google, how to organize promotional events and has even been invited to visit the Google offices in Sydney! He now dreams of scoring a grad role at Google. In the following interview, he tells us why.

Today we farewell our fearless leader, Margo Baas


Today we farewell our fearless leader – Margo Baas, Manager of the Careers and Employment Service.

A sense of melancholy has descended over the Careers office.  Goodbyes have been said, gifts exchanged— perhaps even, a private tear or two shed— and the office is now quiet.

The infectious laugh that echoes down the halls, signalling Margo’s approach to Student Services at N12 even if she’s just passed through the Campus Heart, is sadly absent. The leader who has headed the Careers Service for the past few years, driven innovation across Griffith’s employability strategy, fostered valuable industry partnerships and revitalised services for students with her unique approach and boundless energy is departing Australia for an adventure in the United Kingdom.

Student services student leadership program 2015 – recruiting now

Would you like to59dfa6af14be804017d9b1d78c00a83c receive free training in leadership skills (valued over $300) plus a certificate for your resume, in exchange for offering your skills to the Griffith community?

The Welfare and Student Liaison Office in Student Services coordinates an annual leadership program which is offered to potential or current student leaders.  We would like to invite students interested in participating in leadership activities within Griffith to submit an Expression of Interest to join the program. If you wish to apply, please visit the Welfare and Student Liaison Office website ( and complete the online Expression of Interest form by 9:00am on Monday 4 May  2015. Students who are short-listed will be invited to attend a group interview on their campus in  Weeks 10 to 12.  Successful applicants will be notified by mid June.

Successful students can attend the training program at either the Gold Coast or Nathan campuses.  Details are as follows:
